We reported that during an interview for Heroes, Malcolm McDowell revealed that he is signed for three Halloween movies. Now, ShockTillYouDrop.com reports that Tyler Mane, who plays the new Michael Myers in Rob Zombie’s Halloween, is signed for a sequel should one happen.
While talking about playing Linderman in NBC’s Heroes, Malcolm McDowell also briefly discussed taking over the role of Dr. Loomis in the new Halloween, directed by Rob Zombie. “I’ve signed for three,” said McDowell, “How about that? They obviously think it’s going to be a big hit.” McDowell has never seen any of the Halloween movies, and Zombie told him not to. “It’s a new look, it’s a reinvention of it and he is completely different, my Loomis, I presume. So I guess there will be some people that will be sort of disappointed if they think I’m just going to copy [Donald Pleasence] because I’m not.”
Bloody-disgusting.com has scored the first photo of Rob Zombie’s new Michael Myers in full costume and a photo of Michael as a child. The adult Michael Myers looks very much the same as the original. In this film, Meyers is played by Tyler Mane, who was Sabretooth in the first X-Men film. Zombie has gone on record as saying that his Halloween is not a shot-for-shot remake but “a bit of a prequel and a remake combined.” Zombie intends on spending more time on Meyers youth changing what little backstory we got in the first movie.
In other Halloween news, Zombie announced the addition of actor Richard Fancy to the cast. Fancy, who will play a character called Dean Carpenter. The major cast is already complete, with 18-year old actress Scout Taylor-Compton taking on the iconic role of Laurie Strode, originally made famous by Jamie Lee Curtis.
After revealing that Malcolm McDowell is going to play the new Dr. Loomis in Halloween, writer/director Rob Zombie has also announced on his official Blog that Tyler Mane will star as the adult Michael Myers. “I’m sure you all remember Tyler as Rufus from ‘The Devil’s Rejects,’ Sabretooth in the ‘X-Men’ and the unstoppable Ajax in ‘Troy,’” said Zombie. “Tyler is mean, lean and ready to bring you the most psychotic Michael Myers yet.” The new take on the classic horror movie is scheduled for an August 31 release.
Halloween writer/director Rob Zombie has announced on his official MySpace blog that he has cast Malcolm McDowell as Dr. Loomis in his new take on the classic horror movie. Donald Pleasence played Dr. Loomis in John Carpenter’s 1978 original and its sequels. McDowell will join the previously-cast Daeg Faerch, who plays a young Michael Myers, Sheri Moon and Heather Bowen. Dimension Films has scheduled an August 31 release for the film.
Dimension Films has announced that they will make a new “Halloween” movie with Rob Zombie (The Devil’s Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses) writing, directing and serving as a producer. Malek Akkad of Trancas International Films (Halloween H20: 20 Years Later) will produce the feature along with Andy Gould of Vision Entertainment Group (The Devil’s Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses). Zombie will also serve as music supervisor on the film. Miramax Films will co-finance the development with Dimension Films. The announcement was made today by The Weinstein Company co-chairman, Bob Weinstein.
Zombie’s vision of this film is an entirely new take on the legend and will satisfy fans of the classic “Halloween” legacy while beginning a new chapter in the Michael Myers saga. This new movie will not only appeal to horror fans, but to a wider movie-going audience as well. It will not be a copycat of any prior films in the “Halloween” franchise. The film is set for an October 2007 theatrical release.
Bob Weinstein stated, “Rob Zombie is a gifted musician and performer as well as a talented filmmaker. His vision for this new ‘Halloween’ is spectacular and I am thrilled to be collaborating with him and to work closely with Malek Akkad to continue the legacy built by his father, the late Moustapha Akkad.”
Zombie said, “I have been a huge, huge fan of John Carpenter’s original film since its release. So when Bob Weinstein approached me about this, I jumped at the chance to join forces with Dimension Films on this amazing project.”
