Dominic Purcell is set to star in Primeval, a killer-crocodile thriller that would serve as the feature debut of veteran television director Michael Katleman for Touchstone Pictures. Orlando Jones also has signed on to the movie, which is being produced by Gavin Polone and his Pariah production company.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the adventure follows a news producer, reporter and cameraman who are dispatched to South Africa to track down and bring home alive a legendary 25-foot crocodile known as Gustave. However, their quarry proves far more elusive and deadly than they anticipated, and their situation turns even more perilous when a feared warlord targets them for death.
Wedding Crashers team Vince Vaughn and director David Dobkin are teaming again for Fred Claus, a Warner Bros. holiday comedy about Santa’s loser brother reports Variety. Comedy revolves around Santa’s black-sheep brother, who heads back to the North Pole and gets a chance to redeem himself.
The Weinstein Co. has acquired Evilseek, a supernatural thriller starring Thomas Jane and written and directed by Wayne Kramer, Variety reported.
Jane will play a cop so demoralized by the handiwork of a serial killer that he commits suicide. Satan uses the cop’s body as a vessel, inheriting a disgruntled ex-wife, a promiscuous 15-year-old daughter, a lesbian partner and some of the cop’s dogged determination to catch the killer.

Kevin Smith posted some news about the impending release of Clerks II. The release date is official, Clerks II will hit theaters on August, 18, 2006.
Smith also noted he is working on the theatrical trailer and is ready to submit it to the Weinstein Company, and if approved, it will be attached to Scary Movie 4.

Steven Spielberg will begin filming the fourth Jurassic Park film next year reports Ananova. Producer Frank Marshall says the script has been finalised he said: “It has a good script now, so we should have that one up and running next year, for release in 2008.” The character of Lexie, the granddaughter of Sir Richard Attenborough’s character, will take the lead in the new film.
Universal’s genre arm, Rogue Pictures, has picked up feature film rights to horror comic book series, Hack/Slash, with music video helmer Todd Lincoln set to direct for producers Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter. Lincoln will script. Lincoln co-wrote Fox Searchlight’s remake of The Fly, which Lincoln has also been developing as a directing vehicle. Howard Sun is onboard as a co-producer.
Hack/Slash, created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, is a fan favorite sensation from Devil’s Due Publishing, chronicling the adventures of Cassie Hack, a young woman who travels to small towns across the country hunting slashers in the vein of “Halloween”’s Michael Meyers, “Friday the 13th”’s Jason Vorhees, and A Nightmare on Elm Street”’s Freddy Kreuger.

MTV Films and Paramount are developing Midway Games’ “The Wheelman” as both a feature film and a video fame to be released simultaneously in late 2007 with Vin Diesel signed on to star in and produce both reports Variety.
“Wheelman” is an action-adventure title about an expert driver who comes out of retirement to protect a woman from his past. “XXX” scribe Rich Wilkes is penning the film’s screenplay and is expected to turn in a draft in about two months.
Jonathan Liebesman (Darkness Falls, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) is in negotiations to direct Platinum Dunes’ remake/prequel of “Friday the 13th” for New Line Cinema. Set to explore the origins of serial killer Jason Voorhees, the remake will incorporate components of the films, Jason will wear the mask, and the action will be set around Crystal Lake.
Mark Wheaton penned the script with production on the fast track to get it in theatres by October 13th, 2006.
